Perfect Citizen - Phase 2
Film project based on interviews with local businesses and individuals, plus locations, both a documentary and an artists video will be produced.
Marketing Campaign The team is currently inviting PR Companies to work on a campaign that will involve a competition to find the Perfect Citizen. The campaign around citizenship will take place citywide, working with Perfect Citizen partners, local businesses, local and regional broadcast, printed media, community groups and networks. It is anticipated that Hive Network (a networking and electronics company for media arts) will have input into the mobile technology and digital aspect of the marketing. We hope to work with a company that wants to experiment as much as possible with different marketing tools. Initial thoughts on the competition would be to run it in the style of reality TV programmes such as Pop Idol.
Perfect Citizen ‘Roadshow’/ Touring Events A platform/trailer will travel around the city to find the perfect siting for a sculpture to the Perfect Citizen, with an information point and an opportunity for the public to discuss their ideas around citizenship and the location of a permanent sculpture. The Roadshow will also involve the work of Hive Network and the Hidden Histories project with Solent Centre for Architecture and Design using electronic media to broadcast interviews and ideas around citizenship across the city. Public projection projects will also be held across the city using elements of the film project for Perfect Citizen and other artists’ works with an interim event will be held to update progress on the project. This would be a vehicle for the PR Companies
to promote the competition.
We are also working with Southampton City Council initiatives such as various developments within the city (Cultural Quarter and West Quay Plaza); Living Landmarks; and Legible City.
